Reporting

Here are some options you might want to consider when trying to make a decision about reporting your experience to the police:

  • If you report a sexual offence to the Police, they may bring you to the New Swindon Sanctuary for a medical examination.
  • Alternatively, you may wish to call the New Swindon Sanctuary directly and we can contact the Police on your behalf.  A medical examination and treatment can be provided to you and your report will be heard by a specially trained Police Officer.
  • If you are not sure what to do, our team will explain the options available to you and support you whatever your decision. Reporting to the Police can be a difficult decision to make but our staff will support you in making the right choice for you.
  • Your support team is trained to capture early evidence from you with your consent and can discreetly store this on your behalf.  This gives you extra time to make a decision without the risk of losing valuable evidence in the meantime.
  • If you do not wish to report the assault to the Police, we can still provide you with treatment, counselling, onward referral to other health agencies, help and support
